Ecstatic Dance

All are invited to come and dance to great rhythmic music and move however they wish (there will be no instruction); the group’s motto will be: “dance to release stress, and not to impress.” Attendees should wear loose, comfortable clothing and bring water to drink. The Eastport Arts Center will offer a six-week winter session of its program for preschoolers, KinderArts, beginning February 9. A new instructor, Laura Baker of Pembroke, will be at the helm of the group. Laura Baker holds an education degree from Indiana University. She has an extensive music education, focused on voice. All Eastern European countries have at least some tradition of music and dance, usually celebrated by a Sunday Afternoon "Hora" (or dance) in the town square. Come learn these dances to exciting Greek, Romanian, Bulgarian and Israeli music. Everyone, including beginners, is welcome to come and explore this great tradition. By donation. The PBSO will begin rehearsals for the 2017 Spring Concert Series on Wednesday, April 5, and have their second rehearsal on Monday, April 10. Regular Thursday rehearsals will resume on April 20. All rehearsals take place from 7:00 to 9:30 pm at Eastport Arts Center. Carpooling is available.
