About the percussion projects: “Using kitchen utensils or sticks from your backyard you can practice tempo (fast and slow), dynamics (loud and soft) and register (high and low),” notes EAC’s Education & Outreach Coordinator Alison Brennan (yes, she is also a music teacher!). “Older children will also have fun copying simple rhythm patterns.”

An outdoor music station! Read more about this idea here: https://www.andnextcomesl.com/2014/06/diy-recycled-outdoor-music-station.html These fun maracas use spoons, tape, and recycled plastic Easter eggs. Vary the egg ‘fillings’ (rice? popcorn? lentils? beads?) to hear different sounds.
