The Eastport ArtWalk celebrates August Abundance, partnering weekly with a different organization to promote health and fitness – and art – in our area.

Each week the ArtWalk will post a new “Walk of the Week” featuring a different 1-1.5 mile walking route, celebrating the gardens, vistas and outdoor art found along the way.
Week One takes a North Water Street stroll, partnering with the Eastport Summer Lunch Program, now in its 4th summer. The program has been able to add kid-friendly activities along with lunch, by partnering with Healthy Acadia, The University of Maine Cooperative Extension and WHSD; the City of Eastport administers the program. Says organizer Jana Sutherland:   “We operate as a volunteer program,” says organizer Jana Sutherland, “and we’ve had wonderful volunteers!”
About her volunteerism, Jana commented:  “Over my lifetime, especially when raising my children, mostly as a single divorced mom, I was able to receive help when I needed it.  I had a chance to give back by helping to build a program to feed children and families and I couldn’t pass it up. I particularly enjoy working with the families at Quoddy Farms. Those kids are such a joy and the parents are very helpful.”

Eastport and the Eastport ArtWalk thank Jana and the amazing Summer Lunch Program volunteers for their contribution to the health and well-being of our community.
