EAC is proud to announce the launch of Downeast Digital Zine Club, a program aimed at Washington County teenagers that focuses on the production of a monthly publication. Young artists of all disciplines and skill levels are encouraged to participate. The club meets via Zoom with instructor, Mark Macey, every Wednesday from 3:30-5:00pm.
Students will lend their creative skills to the creation of zines and gain new insight from a series of guest artists. The first publication is planned to drop in January 2021 and the club will be held throughout the school year.
“I feel so lucky to get to do this,” Macey said when asked about the program. “It’s all the punk-rock fun of zine-making and that tradition but in this great digital format where we can include things that don’t work in print like video and audio.”
Mark also stressed his desire for participants with varied interests and experience. “I just want anyone who feels excited about making something to show up regardless of whether they know exactly what they want to do.”
