In place of the beloved annual Festival of Trees, Eastport Arts Center will this year offer a trio of online ornament-making workshops. All are invited to participate in one or all three of the Zoom-based sessions in which popular EAC instructors Sara Myrick, Ann Cannizzaro and Sue Riddle will teach techniques for creating unique decorations to be used either on holiday trees or to bedeck our homes. The Zoom sessions will take place on consecutive Sunday afternoons: November 29, December 6 and December 13, from 2-3 pm (instructor sequence as listed above). Participants are encouraged to learn and create with the instructors, and save up ideas for next year’s Festival of Trees, to be held December 11, 2021.

The workshop projects are designed to be accessible for all ages; small children will need a helper adult. Materials kits will be available for participants with a small registration fee; a discount will be applied for those who register for all three sessions. Detailed materials lists will also be provided for those who will be ‘Zooming in’ from farther afield, and who will provide their own materials. The kits will include a variety of art supplies and items from nature for the projects, which will include a garland with yarn trees and wooden beads, painted shell ornaments and straw stars. Kit pickups will be available in Eastport, Robbinston and Baring. Early registrations and questions may be sent to EAC Education & Outreach Coordinator, Alison Brennan, at alison@eastportartscenter.org; full details about the three workshops will be available soon via the EAC site, eastportartscenter.org.
