Play by play, Stage East’s theatre class and play reading series, has enjoyed a healthy attendance since its retooling in early November. The offering focuses on reading the most-produced plays of the 19-20 season over Zoom.

The class is also an effort to get the public in touch with playwriting, performance, and theatre in general. “Yes, we’re reading really great plays, but we’re also sending out resources for people to dig a little deeper into the process of making theatre,” explained Play by Play’s organizer, Mark Macey.

“I feel so heartened that we’re able to keep theatre alive right now,” Macey added. “I just want to thank Stage East’s board, our membership, and the community for joining in on the fun.”

Readings begin at 7:00 pm, and the schedule is as follows. Participants are welcome to read or just listen. Some roles will be precast. If you’re interested in being considered for a role, please email
