Stage East’s series of most-produced plays continues on December 3rd at 7 pm with Every Brilliant Thing by Duncan Macmillan.

The play, which has enjoyed a stellar run off-broadway, was produced ten times during the 19-20 U.S. season. Productions have been nominated for a Lucille Lortel Award, a Drama Desk, and and Off-Broadway Alliance Award. The play revolves around a child’s attempt to buoy his chronically depressed mother’s spirits with a list of every brilliant thing.

The Guardian wrote that Every Brilliant Thing is “[a] heart-wrenching, hilarious play…One of the funniest plays you’ll ever see about depression—and possibly one of the funniest plays you’ll ever see, full stop…There is something tough being confronted here—the guilt of not being able to make those we love happy—and it is explored with unflinching honesty”
