Eastport Gallery welcomed several fresh (masked!) faces in 2020 and all are represented in the gallery’s first virtual Holiday Market. Today, the gallery shines a spotlight on new members Jennifer Maffett and Amy Ray.

Artist Jennifer Maffett is both new to the Eastport Gallery and new to Washington County, moving here in 2020! Escaping a career in high tech, she and her husband bought a farm and she made the transition from click jockey to vegetable farmer. In her latest chapter, she and her husband continued to the coast (bringing their picks, shovels and vegetables with them) where she tells stories with words and pictures … often reflecting her appreciation and respect for food, farmers, nature and now, especially the sea. She hasn’t completely escaped her high tech roots however: she is now working with the gallery to enhance their website and digital media presence.

Amy Ray is new to Eastport Gallery, but certainly not new to Washington County. She was born in Eastport and currently divides her time between Eastport and Monmouth, Maine with her husband and two young adult daughters. Like Jennifer, she tells stories with words and pictures—her words a mixture of poetry and prose, and her pictures crossing back and forth between landscape and figurative abstraction. She most often works in mixed media on paper. Amy also has an Etsy shop featuring vintage clothing and goods; you can see her love of vintage items reflected in the color palettes of her artwork.
