On Saturday, May 1 at 7:00 pm, a virtual celebration will take place to launch The Jay Skriletz Scholarship Fund to support youth and young adults in the theater. The scholarship is inspired by the life of Jay Skriletz and his belief in the potential and power of young people, his advocacy for equity and social justice, and his contribution to the theater arts in Washington County.

Stage East, together with Indivisible Washington County, is delighted to bring Jay’s recent play Houdini’s Secret to the virtual Zoom stage to launch the scholarship fund. The play is a “politically charged thriller about a family drama set in Downeast Maine that gets at the heart of what it means to lose the one you love.” The virtual staged reading will be directed by Mark Macey.

With this reading and with the associated Jay Skriletz Scholarship Fund, Stage East wishes to honor the life and memory of our dear friend, Jay. All are encouraged to consider a donation to the Scholarship Fund in any amount; the fund is managed by Stage East and will be used to support youth and the theater arts.
Donations can be made by PayPal, with this link.  They can also be made by check, as described here.
