‘Exploring Mask-making and Puppetry,’ a Summer Arts Camp for children ages 6-13, will be offered from 9:30 am-noon, July 6-9, at Eastport Arts Center. Instructors Ann Cannizzaro, art, and Mark Macey, theater, will engage campers in making their own masks and puppets to accompany their theater improvisations. The program, with limited enrollment, is being offered in accordance with CDC guidelines for gatherings.
A longtime EAC Arts Camp instructor and local educator, Cannizzaro combines a love for art with experience in education. She enjoys helping children discover new skills, ideas, and mediums through artistic endeavors, and works hard to plan and organize activities that are challenging and fun at the same time.
Macey, EAC’s Island Institute/Stage East Fellow, has directed mainstage productions at EAC, and engaged youth and community in past sessions of Children’s Theater Workshop and Improv Group.
Camp fee is $15/day or $50 for all four days; materials and lunch are included. Space is limited; to preregister, please email Alison Brennan, EAC’s Education & Outreach Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org. EAC workshops are partially funded by the Belvedere Traditional Handcrafts Fund of the Maine Community Foundation; a sliding scale for fees is available by request.
