The Eastport Gallery welcomes back an old friend as it looks ahead to the 2021 summer season.  JoAnne Houlsen was a gallery member for about 15 years before taking a break a few years ago; we are glad she has decided to return, filling our single member opening this season. Says JoAnne:  “My paintings are colorful yet calming representations of places and things I have a connection to.  Edward Hopper said it very aptly, ‘If you could say it in words, there would be no reason to paint.’  I find it exciting and challenging to be able to express how I see the world visually. The process of seeing and then being able to filter what I see in a two-dimensional format is an emotional experience that is hard to express verbally.”
