“Our first in person workshop, taught by talented local art instructor Sara Myrick, was a resounding success—full to capacity,” enthused program coordinator Alison Brennan. Participants wore masks upon entering, and those fully vaccinated were welcome to remove their mask while seated at their work station. The participants learned a flexible technique for basketry using a cardboard form, and about the many different recycled products that can be used for this type of weaving. Each tried their hand at the technique, using twine, ribbons, yarns, and more to create their own design.
“Sara’s patient and encouraging instructions made for a very relaxed class that was both fun and fulfilling,” added Brennan.
Seven more workshops are coming up in this series!—read more here: https://eastportartscenter.org/2021/06/summer-workshop-series-announced/
