As a part of Eastport ArtWalk’s Passport Weekends, Stage East will be holding a storytelling competition—with prizes!—at the Sutherland Amphitheater at 4 pm on June 26th, July 24th, and August 28th.

Each Saturday’s top three storytellers will win prizes donated by local businesses and all participants will walk away with one free ticket to the show of their choosing from Stage East’s upcoming 30th anniversary season.

To honor one of Eastport’s most historically significant industries, the event will be known as The Canned Sardine and aims to celebrate the yarns, tall tales, confessions, and gut-busters of area residents. Workshops will be available at the Eastport Arts Center from 2:30-3:30 pm before each Slam, in which Mark Macey will help storytellers craft attention-grabbing openings, captivating middles, and satisfying endings.

Storytelling slots are limited so make sure to reserve your spot at the link below:

Prizes are still accumulating; thus far they include a 30-minute Water Taxi cruise, a cheesecake from Sully’s By The Sea, an Old Hookers Tee, a gift certificate from Shear Creations, and desirables (TBA) from Dastardly Dick’s Wicked Good Coffee!
