A young man visited the Eastport Gallery last weekend and was thrilled to pose with artist Elizabeth Ostrander’s Green Man sculpture. He is interested in Green Man and attends Green Man folk festivals, the largest yearly gathering in Wales. The Green Man is connected with the cycle of life, death and re-birth and is a pagan symbol heralding spring and the renewal of lush vegetation following a long winter. Ostrander has created a series of Green Man sculptures over the years; this is her current piece on display at the Gallery.

The Gallery has opened a fresh display of new member works for August. Stop by 109 Water Street between 11 am-5 pm daily and see works such as these:

Meanwhile, Jude Kempe’s Return Journey installation continues in the Gallery’s front room through August 21. Here are some shots showing the view of Kempe’s video piece from outside of the building at night (the best time to view the video portion). More information about Return Journey, with video sneak peek and full video, may be found here.
If you can’t visit our Water Street gallery, our online gallery is continually updated with new member works. Visit: www.eastportgallery.com.
