Auditions for Stage East’s upcoming production of Almost, Maine by John Cariani will be held October 23rd from 1-4 pm at Eastport Arts Center. The show, which has become an American theater staple, revolves around the romantic lives of the inhabitants of a fictional town in northern Maine. The casting is flexible with room for actors of all sorts. Adults of any age and skill level are encouraged to audition. Stage East Artistic Director Mark Macey hopes to create a lighthearted atmosphere saying, “Auditioning so often implies something intimidating and hostile. I’d like to change people’s minds about that. When you come audition for us, it will be fun and informal. We’re not on a power trip. We want to give people a place to grow and thrive.”

Each actor will be given a 15-minute audition slot to meet with the production team, chat about the play, and read sides (small excerpts from the script). Reading the play beforehand is encouraged but not necessary. Resumes and headshots are not expected but welcomed. CDC guidelines will be followed in auditions; masks required.
