Eastport Arts Center will offer a February Break Arts Day for ages 6-13 on Wednesday, February 23, from 9:30-11:30 am. Instructors Nia Aretakis (art) and L. Elwood (movement and games) will get children’s creative juices flowing with the fun session. Aretakis will start with a simple tissue paper printing project, then L. will engage the group for some energetic stretching and moves to ‘shake the sillies out.’ Finally, the students will create colorful woven paper fish.

Aretakis has been involved at EAC since childhood, and most recently worked with EAC Video to create a 10-part Craft Along video series. She is studying online at the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design.
Elwood is EAC’s intern, focusing on co-leading Children’s Theater Workshop and giving the Center a vibrant social media presence. She received a BA in Theater and Dance from Oberlin College.
Covid precautions require a limited class size, so please register early to guarantee your child’s space by emailing Alison Brennan at alison@eastportartscenter.org. A $5 fee includes all materials; a sliding fee scale is available by request. Support for this workshop has been provided by Belvedere Traditional Handcrafts Fund of the Maine Community Foundation.
Eastport Arts Center is at 36 Washington Street, Eastport and eastportartscenter.org, and is handicapped-accessible. EAC abides by State of Maine CDC COVID guidelines. Additionally, at this time, patrons are required to wear masks when in the EAC building.
