The second annual Hearts for the Arts auction opens ONLINE Saturday, Feb 5th and closes at 5pm on Sunday, Feb 13th. More than 90 heart-themed artworks in all mediums are available to give as gifts to your Valentine or yourself, all the while supporting the 2022 ArtWalk Passport weekends.
This year’s auction features 2 returning artists: Mary Anderson and Sue Griggs-Bailey. Their representations of the hearts in the windows of the Tides Institute were captured by the Eastport Art Center’s Mark Macey in this 2021 video:
This year Mary has submitted two whimsical, sea inspired mixed-media works: “Mermaid” and “Scallop Competition” (below). In addition to the works on paper, Mary has contributed a hand-knitted pair of socks with a heart-shaped motif worked into the toes.

Sue has captured the ethereal feeling of Eastport in winter with her luscious pastels: “Into the Woods”, “Solitude” and “Frozen and still, but if you listen you can hear the heartbeat” (below).

To view works by Mary, Sue and more than 30 community artists, go to: http://eastportartwalk.org. And be sure to stop by the window display at 74 Water Street in Eastport to admire many of the items in person.
Thank you for supporting Hearts for the Arts, the 2022 ArtWalk Passport weekends and our community of amazing talent.
