Quoddy Voices, the community chorus of Eastport Arts Center, has announced a new virtual season, beginning at 7 pm on Monday, February 21. The group will begin with weekly Zoom meetings for learning and practice, and all are welcome. “We will explore some of the group’s favorite choral pieces, learn about the different genres of choral music, and begin learning some pieces to sing,” notes director John Newell. In the spring, if possible, the group will present a public concert in a hybrid fashion, combining solos and small ensembles with selections from the full chorus.
“How things ultimately proceed will depend on how the virus situation develops in Washington County,” notes Newell. “Group singing is still regarded as a high-potential activity for spreading the COVID-19 virus. For the sake of everyone we must still take it slowly and be careful. It is unclear when in-person choral rehearsals will be safe for everyone. When that does happen, appropriate protocols such as masking and distancing will be followed.”
Those interested in participating may email Newell for a Zoom invitation at jnewell384@gmail.com.
