Can you think of a more fun thing to do on a sweltering day than walk along the shore or in a cool glade searching for things? Now is the time to seek those wonderful things flora and fauna! This is the season to gather materials for making creative decorations for trees to enter in the 13th Annual Festival of Trees. Always held on the 2nd weekend in December, the festival features a forest of sparkling trees, collected straight from the woods that day… well-timed to get into the mood for the holiday season, but not too early for the trees to remain fresh through that season.

Pinecones, wildflowers, fanciful twigs, pine needles, dried fruits all turn into charming, one-of-a-kind decorations. Think of what can be created by what is gathered from the seemingly endless bounty of the sea as you walk along the shore. Further ideas can come from joining others in the diverse workshops at the arts center. Some have already made ornaments with EAC instructors through Zoom classes last winter.

Three month of creating new treasures from your summer gleanings, solo or with friends, magnify the quality time to be derived from working with your hands on what you found with your hands! Please follow photos in upcoming EAC newsletters for inspiration and peeks back at memorable trees past. Questions about the festival may be sent to margedhigginson11@gmail.com.
