The Resonant Rogues delighted a nearly ‘at capacity’ EAC on Saturday, September 24. With humor and tales of their lives on and offstage, North Carolina-based songwriting duo Sparrow and Keith Smith and bassist Ben from New Orleans played two lively and diverse sets. Most of the material was original, and poignantly derived from the couple’s own lives and struggles; some surprise tunes in the show included selections from Serbia and Turkey.
“It was the fullest house for a from-away band since Covid,” noted EAC Director Chris Grannis. “One couple drove from Boston to see them a second time! Grannis provided front-of-the-house support for event, while husband Steve Grannis ran sound and lights from the booth.
The Resonant Rogues head next for a two-gig day in New York, with a noon set Saturday at the Caffe Lena Festival at SPAC, and an 8 pm set at the Folkfaces Fest in Buffalo; followed by a stop in Pennsylvania. Next up is a flurry of dates in southern Appalachia, including Asheville, Brevard, Burnsville and Hendersonville, North Carolina; Strawberry Plains, Tennessee; and Berea Kentucky. Thanks to all who came out and made the EAC show such a success!
