Organizers of EAC’s 13th Annual Festival of Trees are excited to report that more decorators have signed up. Our current list of individuals and teams include: Lysa Intrator; Catherine J.S. Lee; Eastport Senior Center; Manuela Brice; Peavey Memorial Library; Eastport Pickleball Club; St. Croix Garden Club; Georgie Kendall; Meg Colbert; David Oja; Alberta Hunter; Cathy Adelman; Susan Weaver and Kris Smith; Jessica Williams; Cynthia Morse (solo); Cynthia Morse and friends; and Melissa Newcomb.
Intrator sent us this image of Old Mrs Rabbit, who will be featured as part of her tree. According to the artist, the 15-inch felt doll, dressed in outdoor attire, is “Decorating her tree with gifts for Flopsy, Mopsy, Peter Cottontail and Mr. MacGregor. Their gifts are baskets full of dried cattails and bunny clover.”
“I am a fiber artist who has sewn and embellished my work for over 60 years,” notes Intrator, a resident of Pembroke. “Though I primarily create story quilts, I also decorate clothing and make felt dolls. My work is hand done using cotton fabrics, embroidery, beads, buttons, ribbon and paint to add texture.
“I enjoy piecing and appliqué work, often using traditional quilt blocks in unique settings.
My inspiration comes from my emotional connection to the people and places in my life. No two pieces are the same.”

Those interested in an opportunity to gather with others to create ornaments will be excited to hear that EAC will host an Ornament-Making Workshop, 1:30-4:30 pm, on Sunday, November 6. Instructors Ann Cannizzaro and Fran McLean will guide attendees through the process of creating different types of sea-themed decorations, which could very well result in a well turned out holiday tree for the festival! The workshop is geared for ages 12 and up; younger children are welcome to participate with an adult helper. Please watch for more information about the workshop coming soon, or if you’re already determined to attend, please email alison@eastportartscenter.org to preregister, and hold your place!
