Eastport Arts Center is thrilled to announce companion offerings to our 13th annual Festival of Trees, which will be held from 4:30-5:30 pm, Saturday, December 10, at the Center. The event will feature a ticket raffle of gift-worthy items in addition to the ‘main event’ of lovingly decorated tabletop trees available by silent bid. Attendees may purchase raffle tickets at $1 apiece, 6 for $5, or 30 for just $20, and cast their tickets in hopes of winning items donated by local individuals and groups. Raffle prizes include homemade jams made by Lora Whelan; a sample basket from Wrenovations; a gift certificate from Horn Run Brewing; a hand-printed bamboo/cotton artisan shawl from Eastport Breakwater Gallery; a twin-pack of flavors from Raye’s Mustard; and from EAC constituent group The Concert Series, two Wilderness Water Globes (a doe with fawn, and a wolf with cub); a New Brunswick lighthouse tea towel, and a copy of Thanks to the Animals by Allen Sockabasin, illustrated by Rebekah Raye. Raffle participants get to choose which item they’ll attempt to win, by placing tickets in the corresponding bag.

The Arts Center, which hopes with this event to generate needed funding for year-round programming, is grateful for these donations; also of note is that the event will feature treat bags donated by Breakwater Bagels and More. Music will be provided by singer Lauren Koss, who’ll perform a mix of seasonal tunes while accompanying herself on ukulele.
As I see the greater community busily developing their themes and decorations for the Festival of Trees,” notes event organizer Marged Higginson, “I admit to feeling warmth at seeing the EAC motto personified. In this event, ‘Where creativity and community meet’ is lived out by decorators and businesses, individuals and groups from the wider community, animal lovers, gardeners, musicians and fun lovers, all while helping the arts center provide programming all winter. It is such a treat to see faces that wore worry lines all year display the smiles of a joyous season at the festival.”
