The Passamaquoddy Bay Symphony Orchestra (PBSO) will perform Sunday, December 4 at 2 pm at Sunrise Opportunities (formerly Calais Congregational Church) in Calais.

The program includes Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No.1, “Winter Daydreams”, and “The Enchanted Isle,” a colorful suite by American composer Ernst Bacon. The suite, based on Shakespeare’s The
Tempest
, begins with a shipwreck and ends with a marriage blessing.

The PBSO is a constituent member of the Eastport Arts Center. The orchestra is conducted by its Music Director Trond Saeverud and Assistant Conductor Gregory Biss.

A $15 donation is suggested for adults; admission for students is free. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.

More information is available via the PBSO’s Facebook page, on this site, or by phone to June Gregory, (207) 213-9145.

Please note: Due to concerns about rising Covid rates in Eastport, the concert originally scheduled for Friday evening at Eastport Arts Center has been canceled. Because some musicians must be unmasked to play their instruments, this change was made out of an abundance of caution. The Machias and Calais venues are significantly larger than the Arts Center, and allow more space between the performers and audience. In addition, with great regret, the PBSO has announced that, due to concerns about the weather predicted for Saturday, the concert in Machias has also been canceled.
