A trio of Passamaquoddy Bay Symphony Orchestra members kicked off a series of outreach concerts organized by Eastport Arts Center on December 6. Ellen Krajewski, cello; Nancy Asante, flute; and Sineidin O’Niall, viola, were first of the series performers, and shared their music for residents of Washington Place in Calais.  Listeners were asked to sing along with the group, who began their program with “O Little Town of Bethlehem.” A half hour of caroling continued with “Silent Night” and other traditional favorites. Surrounded by festive decorations, the audience particularly enjoyed “Deck the Halls” and “We Wish You A Merry Christmas.”
“I thought this was going to be a rinky-dink performance,” commented one fan after the concert. “This was wonderful!”
The outreach concerts will continue throughout the month with trio performances by Krajewski with violinists Lauren Simpson and Ann Simmons, and a contingent of Quoddy Voices caroling, at both Washington Place and the Eastport Memorial Nursing Home. The ‘Quoddy Voices and Friends’ group will be led by Jenny Gillies, and include Manuela Brice, Steve Koenig, Ray Fluke, Barbara Smith, Nadine Biss, Bill Mullins, Jnana Hodson, Melissa Newcomb, Bill Johnson and others TBA.
Outreach efforts at Washington Place and Eastport Memorial Nursing Home will continue in the new year with vintage tunes—jazz, folk and oldies—by Lauren Koss.
