The Nordic idea of “hygge” has become more common in the states of late and perhaps has even become an essential practice in many of the North American climes. Without a simple or direct translation, it can be described as infusing your home, life and community with coziness and comfort by incorporating beauty, light, charm and simple little things that brew contentment.

We hope to spread some light and cheer in the community with our winter window sparkles (check them out!) and showcase some of our member-artist works that capture the spirit of hygge as well.

JoAnne Houlsen’s Plant and Wicker Chair in Sunlight could make you feel all calm and cozy just by looking at it. And what is more comforting than a hot spaghetti meal? Barbara Moskol’s Spaghetti Bowl, shown here, is food-friendly and microwave safe, just like all of her creations. Some of her other works are also brimming with ways to share comfort such as her rice bowls and cheese plates. Barbara’s and JoAnne’s work can be viewed in our Virtual Holiday Gallery as well as in their personal stores online.

View their work and the other member-artists’ work at Happy Holidays to all! And to all a Bright Night as Eastport lights up!
