The Passamaquoddy Bay Symphony Orchestra (PBSO) is preparing for its June concerts with the first rehearsal, 6:00-8:00 pm, Monday, March 13, in Calais at Sunrise Opportunities (formerly the Calais Congregational Church), 21 Calais Avenue. Rehearsals continue weekly on Thursdays, 6:00-8:00 pm, with June 2,3, and 4 performances in Eastport, Machias and Calais.
The June program will include the Mozart Piano Concerto No.15 with Phil Silver as soloist and Symphonie Fantastique by Hector Berlioz. The orchestra will also premiere a new work composed specifically for the PBSO by Conductor Trond Saeverud’s father, Ketil Hvoslef.
The PBSO is a constituent member of the Eastport Arts Center, with volunteer musicians performing difficult pieces while also having fun. Conductor Trond Saeverud inspires, encourages and challenges the players and is supported by Assistant Conductor, Gregory Biss.
