A Beginners’ Video Workshop with Jude Kempe will be offered Friday, April 28, from 5:30-7:30 pm, and continuing on Saturday, April 29, from 1-3 pm, at Eastport Arts Center. Students interested in learning to make short form videos will be guided through the process in this simple and straightforward workshop. The resulting video projects will be suitable for sharing via social media platforms, or enjoyed as ‘home movies.’
Attendees should bring a smartphone or tablet; lessons in shooting, editing, and adding music and some effects will be included, along with many helpful tips and tricks.
Jude Kempe studied painting, photography and multimedia at Cal Arts, School of Art Institute and Columbia College. She has taught at Columbia College, Center for New Television, and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago Video Department. Jude is owner, producer, director, videographer and editor of Enigma Video Productions and JKempemedia.
Painting, drawing and taking photographs were a big part of Jude’s childhood. After many years of exploring and working with film, video, photography and painting, she has found that her art is always about the story, the idea. Her artistic direction is now about finding the right form for these stories and ideas.
The workshop is designed for ages 12 and up, and space is limited. There is a $20 registration fee. A sliding fee scale (pay what you can) is available by request. To sign up, or with any questions about the workshop, please email alison@eastportartscenter.org. Support for this workshop has been provided by Belvedere Traditional Handcrafts Fund of the Maine Community Foundation.
