As part of Eastport Gallery’s Artists Teaching Artists series, Alison Brynn Ross demonstrated Brush Lettering to a fully booked class on April 13 (rescheduled from its original March 4 date due to stormy weather that weekend). It’s a lot harder than it looks, but everyone seemed to enjoy trying out a new skill! Students learned the basics of creating strokes with brush pens and how varying the pressure creates different line widths. They were able to practice different types of strokes, tracing and replicating a script alphabet and a variety of phrases. Each student went home with practice sheets and blank cards and envelopes to share their new skill.

Next up in the Artists Teaching Artists series is a Beginner’s Video Workshop with Jude Kempe on April 28 and 29.

Also coming soon—Eastport Gallery’s Annual Community Show. Participation is free and open to all artists in the broader Eastport Community. Art will be displayed at 109 Water Street and there will also be an online gallery so that artists who are away can also participate. For more information visit eastportgallery.com.
