On ArtWalk Eastport Weekend, June 22-25, the Gallery hosted musicians Fiddle Chick and Picky on Friday evening. On Saturday, visitors to Eastport Gallery used colorful Post-It Notes, arranged in artful patterns, to co-create a testament to what art, Eastport and art in Eastport means to them. As the fog rolled in during the weekend, our window, framing the Eastport Harbor, filled up with sentiments. Some of the posts were drawings, some were words, some symbols. We even had a few 3-D paper “sculptures” of flowers. All of the comments warmed our hearts. Here are just a few.
“Eastport makes my heart sing.”
peace of mind
piece of mine”
Where everyone stops to talk.”
“Eastport is the fantasy childhood home I never had.”
“Art is music to my eyes.”
“Art is a pier of the Eastport Community.”

Right now at the Gallery on Water Street, you can see the July installation (new) of member-artists’ work plus Meri Fern’s one-person show entitled By the Sea. Online, see our expanded Community Show only through July 17. If you haven’t had a chance to see the wonderful work from Eastport-loving artists near and far, check it out! Our spring member-artist online show will only be available for a few more weeks, as well. The virtual gallery showcases different work than the Water Street gallery so it is another way to view more of your favorite artists’ work.
On July 12 we look forward to hosting our second Artist Talk of the season, featuring Meg Colbert, Executive Director of Eastport Arts Center. She will be talking about the logistics of moving fine art around the globe. Join us at 1 pm at the Eastport Arts Center.
The Eastport Gallery is located at 109 Water Street in Eastport’s historic downtown. The Gallery is open daily from 11 am to 5 pm.
