Longtime members of Eastport Arts Center’s Curatorial Committee, Jim Riccio and Mona Ingrid Love, both artists in their own right, volunteered their time to install a new exhibition of community members’ works this week. The show, ‘Inspired by Luminists’, is on view in EAC’s first floor Washington Street Gallery, and will be celebrated with an Opening Reception on Saturday, September 9, 2-4 pm. (Perhaps an enjoyable follow-up for the Eastport Pirate Festival grand parade!)

Luminism was a 19th century art movement concerned with closely observed natural scenes and a faithful rendering of luminous, diffuse light. To honor this history and provide a place for community artists to add their own mark to the Luminist Movement, EAC presents this exhibition of contemporary art.

The exhibition is viewable during EAC events or by chance or appointment (via email with wsg@eastportartscenter.org), and will remain on view through September 28.

Jim Riccio and Mona Ingrid Love, longtime members of EAC’s Curatorial Committee, worked together this week to hang a new exhibition of works submitted by community members, such as this landscape by artist Alice Chen.
