EAC will offer a family-friendly Beginners’ Pumpkin Carving Workshop on Sunday, October 22, from 2-4 pm. Attendees will learn the basics of pumpkin carving, see examples of the art form for inspiration, and receive hands-on guidance from instructor Jacob Lucca.

Jacob Lucca has been a carving, whittling and sculpting enthusiast his entire life. From an early age, he knew that his medium of choice was pumpkins! While living in Texas, he won First Place at the Fort Davis State Bank Pumpkin Carving Contest in both 2019 and 2020. A Maine resident since 2021, Lucca looks forward to sharing his love for giant gourds and pumpkin art with the EAC community.

This workshop is for ages 6 and up; children age 12 and under must participate with an adult helper. Space is very limited, and pre-registration is strongly suggested. A $20 fee covers all materials, including a carving kit for the student to keep. A sliding fee scale (pay what you can) is available by request. To sign up, or with any questions about the workshop, please email nicole@eastportartscenter.org. Support for this workshop has been provided by Belvedere Traditional Handcrafts Fund of the Maine Community Foundation. It is suggested that participants bring a cookie sheet, large spoon (suitable for pumpkin scooping) and a bowl (to hold the pumpkin flesh and seeds.)

Eastport Arts Center is at 36 Washington Street, Eastport, and is handicapped-accessible. EAC abides by the State of Maine CDC COVID guidelines, revisiting our policy monthly. At this time, the use of masks in our building is optional.
