Quoddy Voices, the international community chorus based at EAC, is at work preparing a winter concert program titled “Requests and Favorites.” The group of nearly 40 singers, with accompanist Jane Lanctot, will perform at the Arts Center on Friday, December 15 at 7 pm, and Sunday, December 17 at 3 pm.
“The Quoddy Voices singers are friendly, dedicated, and earnest musicians, regardless of background. I think we’ve hit it off very well, and I look forward to our first show together,” said the group’s new director, Gene Nichols, who welcomed input from the singers about the upcoming concert program.
“From my gazillions of musical suggestions, we’ve selected some mutual and personal favorites; we’ve also developed some material from the singers’ ideas,” noted Nichols. “There were ratings sheets, commentary, and cumulative statistics. We spent our first four weeks sight-reading pieces to get to know each other. I think it will prove to have been time well spent.”
Tickets for the Quoddy Voices concerts are $15; attendees 17 and under will be admitted free of charge; no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
Quoddy Voices welcomes all singers, and does not require an audition. The group will resume rehearsal in preparation for spring concerts in February. Inquiries about the group may be made to Nichols at email@example.com.
