The EAC Sketchbook Project, which began February 3, originally intended to welcome new joiners through the end of February. However, all of the group’s sketchbooks have been put into circulation, with books distributed both to community patrons of a wide range of ages and students of the Cobscook, Edmunds, Sipayik, and Shead schools. The project will culminate in a weeklong exhibition at EAC next month, with an opening reception on March 30. Queries about the group, which hopes to offer another session in future, may be addressed to info@eastportartscenter.org.

The project was designed by Eastport Arts Center and Eastport Gallery to ignite participants’ creativity and connect them with fellow artists. With purchase ($30) of a sketchbook, participants received a blank canvas to work on, a booklet of fun prompts designed to guide and inspire an artistic journey, online video tutorials and inspiration videos, and a series of hour-long artist-led sessions, Saturdays from 10:30-11:30 am, through March 23, at the Center.

Following is a video relating to the group’s week three topic—lettering and/or illustrating a quote. Here project instructor Alison Ross has brought a quote from Dolly Parton to life, watch her go!
