Annual Events at Eastport Arts Center
A lively slate of annual events are at the heart of EAC programming, and are a time when members of the constituent groups collaborate, with the guidance and direction of the Permanent Programming Committee (PPC). These annual events include, but are not limited to:
Moose Island Follies
The Follies are part of the city-wide Old Home Week festivities which lead up to the Fourth of July. A lighthearted review of diverse talent acts, the show features champagne seating option for EAC supporters.
Paint Eastport Day
In conjunction with the Eastport Salmon and Seafood Festival, held on Labor Day weekend, this event is an open call to artists to get out and paint, concluding with an auction boasting works painted the same day. Proceeds are shared between the contributing artists and the Eastport Gallery.
Festival of Trees
The EAC is transformed into a winter wonderland each year as compact miniature Christmas trees, decorated by volunteers and artists, are displayed for silent auction complete with festive music and hors d’oeuvres.
The talented cooks of the Eastport community pull out all the stops to bring international fare to the table for this momentous global potluck, timed to relieve midwinter’s doldrums. The EAC’s International Dance group adds authentic flair. An EAC international cookbook is in the works based on this popular event.
The Permanent Programming Committee
The Permanent Programming Committee (PPC) works with staff to develop and oversee these annual programs as well as new programming. Individuals from Eastport and the surrounding areas are welcomed to join the PPC. If you can’t make a commitment to join the committee, you can give your ideas to the members, and volunteer for specific tasks for events.
