Art Romp: Mixed Media Art Journal with Anne Black
Sunday, September 20 @ 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Celebrate the beginning of fall with EAC’s latest workshop offering, Art Romp: Mixed Media Art Journal with Anne Black, Sunday, September 20, 2-4 pm via Zoom. Black will present a fun afternoon of painting, printing and embellishing papers to create a unique art journal. Participants will use simple methods accessible for any level of art experience. After creating the artful papers, attendees will construct an easy no-sew book that opens flat, ready for more printing, stamping, drawing, collage, and embellishment. A kit of supplies will be provided for pick-up before the class, including a brayer, samples of acrylic paints, papers, recycled foam printing and stamping plates, and a few other items for texturing and mark-making. Participants will also receive a list of additional items they will need, which can be found around the house (apron, tape, scissors, ruler, paper towels, etc.)
This workshop is for ages 12 and up (younger children may participate with the guidance of an adult); the $10 registration fee includes most materials (a sliding fee scale is available by request). Space is limited. Please preregister by Friday, September 18, by emailing registration name, phone number and address to email@example.com.
Materials kits will be available for pick up* at Eastport Arts Center on Saturday, September 19 from 11 am to 1 pm. All Covid-19 precautions will be followed in the preparation of participants’ materials, and fees may be placed in the coffee can provided at pickup. Funding for this workshop has been provided by Belvedere Traditional Handcrafts Fund of the Maine Community Foundation.
*If you aren’t local or wish for other reasons to provide your own materials, we hope that you can still join us. Please email Alison to indicate your interest, and to receive information about materials you’ll need, and for information on signing in to the class. A registration donation is welcome, but not necessary if you are providing your own materials.
Anne Black enjoys an active career in the Boston area as both a visual artist and classical musician. She is a new member of the Eastport Gallery and will begin dividing her time year-round between Boston and her new residence in Eastport. She works in multiple media, including photography, painting, printmaking, digital art, book art, and wearable art, and teaches several of these processes. On the music side, she is Principal Viola of the Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra of Boston and Violist with the Handel + Haydn Society, and has performed for 35 years with the Boston Symphony, Boston Pops, and many other groups in the Boston area. After her first Eastport visit in September 2003 to photograph Eastport Strings, she returned in July 2018 to perform at the inauguration of the new organ at North Church. Smitten for good this time, she and her husband closed on their Water Street property in Eastport in August 2018. More information about Anne may be found at www.CapriccioArts.com.
