Draw-a-Thon

June 26, 2020 @ 7:30 pm 9:30 pm

EAC’s next monthly Draw-a-Thon, a virtual program hosted by Anne Shields Hopkins, EAC’s life drawing workshop organizer, is Saturday, June 26, from 7:30-9:30. All are welcome to participate in the “pay if you are able event”, which uses the Zoom platform to create an evening both festive and intimate. Each month, the Draw-a-Thon creates a space for artists to draw models and performers in real time, and begins with a series of short ‘gesture’ poses for the artists to warm up. This month’s event will feature a ‘storytelling portrait’ section, in which Mark Macey will read while sitting as a model for portrait drawings. Anne Shields Hopkins will present a glass bottle installation for artists’ inspiration. Rafi Hopkins will provide live musical accompaniment for the second half of the event.

Anne noted that participants don’t need to be artists, and that all community members are welcome to come and engage with the event, whether to try their hand at drawing, or to sit and work on a craft or other task in company. Anne related an anecdote of an extreme example of non-art-based participation in the event: their brother-in-law, a musician at last month’s event, after his performance remained on the Zoom call (on mute!) while resuming work on a household demolition project.
