EAC Films: ‘The Commitments’

Sunday, March 17 @ 6:00 pm

EAC Films will present The Commitments (1991,R), on Sunday, March 17, at 6 pm. Based on the 1987 novel of the same name by Roddy Doyle, the music-saturated cult classic, beloved as one of Ireland’s best films, took four BAFTA awards (Best Film, Best Direction, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Editing), and was nominated for a host of other awards. Distributor Swank Films summarizes as follows: Set in working class Dublin, performances of 1960s soul classics highlight a gritty tale of a young man putting together a 10-piece band that finds success in local clubs but aspires to make it big.

Tickets for the screening are $7, and will be available for purchase here, or at the door. EAC Films, in accordance with MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) guidelines, utilizes the movie ratings system. Specifically, those under the age of 17 will not be allowed to view R rated films without an accompanying parent or adult guardian (at least 21 years old). A summary of the ratings system is included here and specific ratings accompany each movie. For more details on ratings go to: www.filmratings.com or www.mpaa.org.
