KinderArts: Free Sessions in Calais

May 4, 2023 @ 10:00 am 10:45 am

Eastport Arts Center’s KinderArts program is back after a winter break, and has announced that it will run free ten-week sessions in two communities, beginning in March. New to the program is a satellite center for families in the Calais area: Sunrise Opportunities (the former Calais Congregational church), at 21 Calais Avenue. Calais sessions will run Thursdays, 10-10:45 am, beginning March 2. Sessions at Eastport Arts Center will be held 10-10:45 am, Fridays, beginning March 3.
The classes, led by popular instructor Caroline Coleman, will feature music, movement and yoga, and are designed for children up to age 5 to attend with a parent or caregiver. Participants are asked to please pre-register with Alison at alison@eastportartscenter.org, but they are also welcome to attend as walk-ins. Please note that in case of weather related delays or cancellation of local schools, KinderArts will be canceled (with make-up dates provided at the end of the session).
Coleman, who grew up in Calais and is a mother of 3 boys, is the owner of Maine Moon Kids Yoga and has been a certified children’s yoga teacher since 2018. While taking yoga classes in college, she appreciated the mind-body connection and decided to pursue this as a career knowing that she could help others benefit. Caroline uses mindfulness, music and movement to help the children refine their gross and fine motor skills, and learn to focus and concentrate while being in a group activity.
Eastport Arts Center is at 36 Washington Street, Eastport, and is handicapped-accessible. EAC abides by State of Maine CDC COVID guidelines, revisiting our policy monthly. At this time, EAC encourages people to wear masks when in our building.
