KinderArts: Music & Movement

Young children and their caregivers are invited to KinderArts Music and Movement sessions on Fridays, July 8 and 22 and August 5, from 10-10:45 am.
The July 8 session will feature American Playground songs, dances and play party tunes including “Down, Down, Down Baby”, “Zudio”, “Over the Sea” and more.
On July 22, a Folk Tunes and Tales program will combine reading stories and enjoying songs of tall tales such as The Bremen Town Musicians, The Three Little Pigs Blues, Abiyoyo, and In the Hall of the Mountain King.
On August 5, a program of Music and Dances from Around the World will present dances of the 7 continents and favorite folk dances of kids and teachers by Sanna Longden: Tokyo Dontaku, Agadu from Israel, Bongo (Trinidad/West African), Bluebird (American), Mexican Clapping Game, Shake Them ‘Simmons Down (America).


KinderArts sessions are free, and are geared for ages 3-8 with a caregiver or parent. Younger siblings are also welcome. Sessions will also be offered July 22 and August 5. Support for this workshop has been provided by Belvedere Traditional Handcrafts Fund of the Maine Community Foundation.

Instructor Elizabeth Nichols-Goodliff has been teaching music for more than 20 years, has directed numerous school musicals, and is involved in community theater with the Machias Blueberry Festival and Stage East. Her most recent Stage East venture was original music she composed for “Away Down East (A Wicked Good Time!)” that premiered at the EAC in June.  Goodliff divides her time between East Machias and Wiscasset and also works at the Maine Veterans Home in Machias as a CNA.

Eastport Arts Center is at 36 Washington Street, Eastport and eastportartscenter.org, and is handicapped-accessible. EAC abides by State of Maine CDC COVID guidelines. Additionally, at this time, the EAC recommends that people wear masks when in our building.
