Eastport Arts Center is introducing a Lego Robotics after school activity beginning March 14. The group, for ages 9 to 14, will meet Wednesdays through April 11 from 3-4:30 pm. Participants will learn how to build and program robots, and create robots to solve tasks and problems using creativity and teamwork. These collaborative sessions led by scientist Shelly Thompson will give children the opportunity to grow, think, learn, create, innovate and cooperate in the exciting world of Legos. Thompson hopes to inspire confidence, an appreciation for how fun science can be, and show kids that failure is a great learning tool.
Thompson’s extensive science experience includes years as a science teacher in Worcester, MA; working in outreach at Worcester Art Museum and San Jose Children’s Museum; and more than a decade in lab and scientific research in MA and CA. Shelly is excited about sharing her knowledge and working with local children at one of her favorite places, Eastport Arts Center.
The activity is free and will take place downstairs at EAC. For more information, email Alison, email@example.com. The Eastport Arts Center is at 36 Washington Street, Eastport and is handicapped accessible. Please visit us at eastportartscenter.org to learn more.
