Passamaquoddy Bay Symphony Orchestra Spring Concert Series
Sunday, June 16 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
The Passamaquoddy Bay Symphony Orchestra will debut its new timpani, made possible by a generous grant from the Morton-Kelly Charitable Trust, when it performs the 2019 Spring Concert Series on June 14 in Eastport, June 15 in Machias, and June 16 in Calais. PBSO is thrilled to accompany cello soloist Dan Allcott with his impressive interpretations of Kol Nidrei by Max Bruch and Hungarian Rhapsody by David Popper. Also on the program are Der Freischutz Overture by Carl Maria von Weber and Symphonic Metamorphosis (a 20th century piece based on Weber’s works) by Paul Hindemith. Gene Nichols and Lynette Woods will amaze by playing a a piece written for 14 different percussion instruments and Nancy Asante will delight with her flute work.
A constituent member of Eastport Arts Center, the PBSO provides a place for musicians to come together to meet other musicians and to improve their skills. Bringing classical music to Washington County and New Brunswick, the orchestra is conducted by Music Director Trond Saeverud and Assistant Conductor Greg Biss.
For concert admission, a $15 donation is suggested for adults; children are welcomed free. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. For more information about PBSO, please visit our page.
