Pre-pandemic, Anne Shields Hopkins hosted weekly life drawing sessions at EAC. When Covid hit, the group moved their drawing sessions to a Zoom room, meeting weekly to draw or paint each other, whether near or far and regardless of time zone. At the online event, artists take turns posing for 5-20 minutes, while others draw from their screens. While everyone is encouraged to model, it is not a requirement for participation.
“We have quite a sweet community,” writes Anne. “[The Zoom group] has provided a wonderful opportunity to create new friendships and deepen existing relationships through sustained observation.”
The August schedule for the group is Zoom sessions on August 11 and 18, with a break to follow. The online group will resume September 15.
On August 25, an ‘in person’ version of this group will meet at Cobscook Institute.
More information and a gallery of works created during the sessions may be found at Anne’s Zoom room: https://anne-shields.com/zoomroom/.
