Stage East presents: Two More New Year’s Comedies

December 31, 2018 @ 9:00 pm - 10:30 pm

$6.00

Stage East will once again present comedies at the Eastport Arts Center as part of Eastport’s New Year’s Eve celebration. “Two More New Year’s Comedies,” featuring a pair of wildly different plays, will be presented at 7 pm and 9 pm on Monday, December 31. In David Ives’ Roll Over Beethoven, a piano student must figure out how to work with his new, possibly delusional, music teacher. Shari Wilner’s Relative Strangers relates an encounter between a vivacious but worried young woman who thinks she may have found her replacement mother in the angry woman sitting in the airplane seat next to her, and the stewardess who tries to engineer a happy ending. Long-time Eastport theater-goers may recall that Relative Strangers was the play taken to competition by Caryn Vinson and the Shead High School “Mixed Nuts” team in 2008.

Roll Over Beethoven will feature the father-and-son cast of Brian and Roy Duffy. Relative Strangers features three actresses from the Machias area: Eustacia Landrum, Jessica Brissette, and Anna Baskerville, who is returning to the EAC Stage after a long absence. Both shows are directed by Stage East President Brian Schuth.

Tickets for the performances are $6, and those under 17 will be admitted free of charge. Both shows are suitable for all audiences.
