The Eastport Arts Center’s Summer Workshop Series, which runs through August 22, will cover a broad range of activities for participants of all ages. Upcycling with Sally DeCicco is next up, from 1-3 pm on Tuesday, July 18. Participants will discuss ways to re-purpose old jeans and shirts, and make chew toys for pets, small drawstring bags, plant hangers and more. The session is intended for ages 10 and up, though younger children may participate with an adult; attendees should bring old plain t-shirts (no logos) and fabric scissors if they have them. DeCicco has been sewing since she was 6. She is a teacher and loves creating costumes for theater and pirates. Lately, her focus has been on upcycling old garments.
Workshop fee is $10 and includes materials; a sliding fee scale is available. Preregistration is encouraged as space is limited: please email Alison Brennan at alison@eastportartscenter.org or call her at (207) 454-8822 for more information or to sign up. The Eastport Arts Center is at 36 Washington Street, Eastport and at www.eastportartscenter.org.
