Summer Workshop Series: Chocolate Art with Melissa Newcomb

Tuesday, August 18 @ 1:00 pm 3:00 pm

Concluding EAC’s Summer Workshop Series, Melissa Newcomb will teach Chocolate Art via Zoom on Tuesday, August 18, from 1-3 pm.  Participants will learn a chocolate painting process that is easily customized for any theme or occasion, and will receive a kit of easy-to-use chocolate ‘candy melts’ for their artwork.
Newcomb enjoys candy-making, woodworking, crafting and a wide variety of DIY projects. A stay-at-home mother of four, she started making custom chocolate art in order to provide her triplet children with unique birthday cakes. “Chocolate art makes it easy for even a beginner cake decorator to make something special,” says Newcomb. Learn more about her many projects at multicraftmom.com, or check out some chocolate art demo videos here and here.
Participants’ supplies kits will include chocolate, piping bags, plastic to pipe art onto, and the image to be used in the workshop. Participants will need access to an oven and a baking sheet, tape, scissors, a napkin or cloth, and small mixing containers (bowls).
This workshop is intended for ages 14 to adult. Younger children are welcome to participate with an adult helper. A $10 registration fee will be charged for materials (sliding fee scale is offered).
Please preregister by Saturday, August 15, by emailing registration name, phone number and address to alison@eastportartscenter.orgMaterials kits will be available for pick up* at Eastport Arts Center on Monday, August 17 from 10 am to 1 pm, or contact Alison for an alternate time/place. All Covid-19 precautions will be followed in the preparation of participants’ materials, and fees may be placed in the coffee can provided at pickup.
