Workshop: Faux Candle Fairy Bottle Lights (a 3D Decoupage Lesson!) with Sue Riddle

Tuesday, August 9 @ 1:30 pm 3:30 pm

EAC’s Summer Workshop Series continues Tuesday, August 9, with Faux Candle Fairy Bottle Lights from 1:30-3:30 pm. Engaging instructor Sue Riddle will lead attendees in a quick and easy craft with magical results. Using a decoupage technique on old wine bottles, crafters will create enchanting decorative lamps, perfect for summer evening sitting-out spots or, later, for wintertime windowsills.

The session is intended for ages 12 and up; younger children may participate in this workshop with an accompanying caregiver. A fee of $10/bottle covers all materials (if a caregiver and child wish to work on a bottle together, the fee will be just $10); a sliding fee scale is available by request. Pre-registration is required; please email Alison Brennan at alison@eastportartscenter.org. Space is very limited, so please register early to save a place. Support for this workshop has been provided by Belvedere Traditional Handcrafts Fund of the Maine Community Foundation.

Originally from San Francisco, Riddle has been living in Down East Maine since 2015. She has taught several craft classes at the Eastport Art Center and Peavey Memorial Library, where she also volunteers. She has dabbled in ceramics, field sketching, birding, cartooning, bookselling, letter arts, and yarn spinning. During the pandemic, she has been involved in EAC’s weekly portrait drawing Zoom classes, which have improved her skills immensely. She lives in Pembroke with four cats, a dog, a blind house chicken, a very patient husband, and, due to a significant loss of control at Tractor Supply this spring, an embarrassing amount of chickens.
Eastport Arts Center is at 36 Washington Street, Eastport and eastportartscenter.org, and is handicapped-accessible. The EAC abides by the State of Maine CDC COVID guidelines. Additionally, at this time, the EAC recommends that people wear masks when in our building.
