AUDITIONS for Zawadi, A Hip Hopera

First call for auditions for EAC/NEA production Zawadi: A Hip Hopera, will be held on Saturday, March 23, noon to 1 pm. We are looking for actors, singers, and dancers ages 6-20. No experience necessary. World premiere performance of Zawadi is planned for June 8, 2019 at EAC. Written and directed by Susan Coopersmith, Zawadi is based on Coopersmith's decades working with street children and youth in Kenya and Tanzania. Darryl Tonemah, actor and performer, is this project's guest artist.…

Ecstatic Dance has resumed weekly meetings at Eastport Arts Center. All are invited to come and dance to great rhythmic music and move however they wish on Tuesdays from 5-6 pm, weather permitting. Attendees should wear loose, comfortable clothing and bring water to drink. $3 suggested donation. For more information please email info@eastportartscenter.org.

All Eastern European countries have at least some tradition of music and dance, usually celebrated by a Sunday Afternoon "Hora" (or dance) in the town square. Come learn these dances to exciting Greek, Romanian, Bulgarian and Israeli music. Everyone, including beginners, is welcome to come and explore this great tradition. By donation.
