Eastport Arts Center will host Autumnal Equinox, a live rap and hip hop concert featuring Native American artists, on Saturday, September 22 at 6 pm. Organizer Sebastian Francis and headliner Undeniable (aka Ashton Altvater), who grew up as close friends on the Pleasant Point Reservation, decided together to dedicate the event to raising addiction awareness. Following the success of Peter and the Wolf in 2014 and Hansel and Gretel in 2016, the Passamaquoddy Bay Symphony Orchestra (PBSO) is ready to present its third Music for Children project: Brundibár! Well-known Czechoslovakian Jewish composer Hans Krása wrote this prize-winning opera for children in 1938—early in the Nazi period of control in Czechoslovakia. During World War II, Nazis established a “City for the Jews” (Theresienstadt, or ‘Terezin,’ concentration camp) to convince the Red Cross that the camps were acceptable places. In…
