Stories We Tell Festival

Storytelling collage header.jpg

Stories provide people with maps for living and by sharing our stories with others we pass on both a community’s history and its values.

Eastport’s “Stories We Tell Festival,” presented by Eastport Arts Center in collaboration with Sipayik Museum and The Quoddy Tides, will feature stories from Maine in a dynamic five-month event, allowing storytellers to share their tales of place, culture, and history in multiple ways.

"Stories inform us about everything—history to culture," says John Bear Mitchell, lecturer in Wabanaki studies at the University of Maine. "They tell us who we are and how we’re shaped. They’re our past, our present, and our future."
