Planned giving is a way to support the Eastport Arts Center into the future. Two of the simplest ways to plan a legacy gift are to designate the Eastport Arts Center in your will or to name the Eastport Arts Center as the beneficiary of a financial account such as a retirement account, an insurance policy, or the assets held in a bank account. Designation in a will can be for a specified amount or a percentage of the estate based on the conditions you set, such as ensuring certain amounts go to family members first. You can also name the Eastport Arts Center as a contingency beneficiary in line after family and loved ones.
Benefits of Planned Giving
- It costs you nothing now.
- You decide how much you would like to give and if your circumstances change you can modify your gift.
- You can keep your gift anonymous if you choose.
- You can designate the gift as being in honor of someone that inspired you in the arts.
If you choose a bequest in your will, work with your lawyer using the following suggested language as a starting point: I give $____dollars or ___% of my estate to the Eastport Arts Center for its unrestricted charitable use and purpose.
If you choose to designate the Eastport Arts Center as a beneficiary, contact the appropriate organization such as your insurance agency or bank and request the appropriate forms. Name the Eastport Arts Center, 36 Washington, Eastport, Maine 04631 as the beneficiary and use our Tax Identification Number (TIN) of 01-0436739 where the form asks for a social security number. Mail the form to the appropriate agency or bank and do inform the Eastport Arts Center of your gift so we can say thank you.
